Personal Care/Companionship is defined as the following:

  • Assist with bathing/showering Hair care/ shampooing Shaving (no straight edge razors) Oral hygiene and denture care Nail care (filing and nail color only, no cutting)
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Assist with hearing aids/glasses
  • Assist with toileting Incontinence care, disposable undergarments and pads Assist with bedpan, urinal and commode Proper disposal of undergarment Diapering and cleaning of bedpan, urinal and commode
  • Light housekeeping
  • Meal preparation Planning Purchasing Preparing Serving meals Sanitation and storage
  • Medication reminder (per Family First Home Care Policy and Procedure)
  • Assist with walking/transferring/positioning Assist with walkers and canes Assist in transfers and positioning from chair to bed
  • Maintain a clean and healthful environment
  • Provide companionship Talking, listening and sharing positive experiences
  • Provide transportation Errand services, medical appointments, grocery store and social events
  • Provide social outlet for client Play games/cards, read books, write letters and plan outings

Respite Care is defined as the following:

  • Provide temporary relief to primary caregivers.
  • Allow for vacations or time out of the home.

Family First Caregivers will be expected to provide the same standard of care to all clients. All positions in client care require that caregivers report any changes in the client’s mental, physical or emotional condition to concerned family members and office staff. Mandatory staff meetings as well as continuing education seminars will be provided to keep caregivers properly trained and informed.
